Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Anthony Vasquez who writes and records as Otis Kane found a passion for music at a very young age.
His mom noticed early on that he would bop his head on every walk they took, even if no music was playing.
Otis started taking an interest in signing at the age of 10. He began singing with five friends at school, harmonizing to Brian McKnight and Boyz II Men. His football coach at the time had ties to the music industry, which led to his first recording studio experience. From then on, Anthony knew that he wanted to pursue a career in music. He went on to spend one year in school as a music major, but left after he was given the opportunity to work for music Legend Nelle Hooper (Soul II Soul, Bjork, No Doubt). Otis worked and traveled with Nelle for a little over a year before he was offered the position of MD/keyboard player for Capitol Records artist Lolene. He toured with Lolene for a year and secured his first major label production on her record.
After tour, Otis opened a studio in Los Angeles called STRZ Enterprises. STRZ became a hot spot in Hollywood graced with superstars ranging from Zara Larrson, Julia Michaels, The Jonas Brothers, Steven Tyler and more. While at STRZ, Otis worked with Nick Jonas, Wiz Khalifa, Joe Jonas and Julia Michaels before leaving the studio to focus on full time production. He continued to work with several artists like Pink Sweat$ and XamVolo before switching gears to his first passion, singing.
Taking on the new moniker of Otis Kane, Vasquez knew he would be unfulfilled if he didn’t start off his journey of being an artist. Since pursuing the Otis Kane project full time, his music has appeared in multiple TV shoes and movies including Queen Sugar, Good Trouble, Hair Love – Angry Birds 2.
As a multi-instrumentalist, experienced engineer and seasoned producer, Otis handles most of his own production, and is excited to use all of his talents and years of experience to bring his projects to life.
